Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
Good Day Everyone
September has come again! This is time of the year that NEHAP Secretariat will hold its annual Conference. Befitting its name, NEHAP Secretariat would like to associate with the World Environmental Health Day, celebrated internationally on the 26 September every year.
Still in our infancy stage, this is our second year holding the Conference, with a theme Partnership in Environmental Health: Towards Sustainability Development Goals. Our objectives are of course to share and disseminate knowledge and information as well as capacity building among us, the environmental health practitioners, as we acknowledged that Environmental Health is very broad and cuts across many professional fields.
As for our NEHAP’s activities, we have almost completed our calendar and this conference is the pinnacle for 2016. We’ve had 2 Steering Committees Meetings, 2 Technical Meetings and 16 Thematic Working Groups Meetings, with major decisions being made and all focussing on the betterment of Malaysia’s environmental health. Subsequently, work plans are being developed to monitor the deliverables by each TWGs so that we can gauge the achievements of NEHAP in Malaysia.
We are also proud to announce that 3 States have been identified as pilot projects to implement NEHAP at their state levels or SEHAP for 2016. Even though the evaluation has not been finalised, more states have shown interest in implementing SEHAP after they realised the importance of having a common workable platform to discuss any Environmental Health issues at their state levels.
Last but not least, a round of applause to everybody who has contributed to the development of the Action Plans.
